There are several different types of keying, including:
• Keyed to differ: Each lock has its own unique key that can only open that lock
• Keying alike: Multiple locks can be operated by the same key
• Master keying: Each lock has its own key, but all locks can be opened with one master key (discuss with our technician)
• Grand master keying: Like master keying, but the locks are divided into groups, each with its own master key, and the entire system is operated by one grand master key. (discuss with our technician)
Rekeying is a process that involves changing the pins or discs inside a lock cylinder, so it works with a new key. Rekeying is usually less invasive and more cost-effective than replacing the entire lock, especially if the lock is still in good condition.
